Indonesia – Mud Flow

2009

An environmental tragedy began on 29th May 2006, when drilling company PT Lapindo struck not oil, but mud. To this day, the flow of toxic mud has buried thousands of homes, factories and shops in the Porong area of Sidoarjo, East Java, and shows no signs of stopping. Around 60,000 locals have been forced to flee and live as IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons).
